The Oval, Kennington, London

HED worked with HOK Sport, Venue & Event Architecture on the new stand for the Oval, home of Surrey County Cricket Club. HED designed a ‘living screen’, which provided an environmentally responsive cladding to the new stand. This is constructed with arching Glu-lam columns articulated with automatically irrigated climber screens planted with a variety of twining climbers to give a year round seasonal effect.

The existing perimeter security has been deconstructed to provide visual interplay between the public realm and the stadium.
