"A rare jewel in the rocky contours of the Saiq Plateau on Oman's fabled Green Mountain, Anantara's unique retreat perches 2,000 metres above sea level on the curving rim of a great canyon. Elevated in both location and authentic luxurym Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is the highest five star resort int he Middle East and amongst the highest in the world.

Elegant Architecture reflects the mountainous surrounds and Oman's artistic culture. Contemporary design motifs depict the region's ancient forts." - Anantara

The landscape design follows a similar approach to the architecture, reflecting the local vernacular whilst expressing it in a more contemporary manner.

The retention and new planting of locally indigenous vegetation is balanced with Mediterranean planting in terraces that echo those found clinging to the mountainsides.

The landscape is one of transition from rock outcrops at the cliff edge towards the gardens around the villas and restaurant dining terraces.

Creatively recognising that the transition reduces water consumption but also allows the guest to experience the unique natural landscape whilst glimpsing something of local village life and traditions such as the locally produced Damask Rose Water.
